He's a Texas boy, so hopefully they will be making their way back to Texas in a few years. They currently live in Boston. The grand kitty has already moved in with David, and my daughter, Janell, will be moving in after the honeymoon. I have to be at the wedding venue at 9am tomorrow, for a 5pm wedding. Give me strength!!! <div><br></div><div>As you must know, I am doing the 30 Days of Losts thing!!! It is my understanding that I lived in 22 different locations my fist 2 years of life. My daddy was working the pipeline because Dow had laid him off in February 1958, just a month before I was born. <div><br></div><div>I was born in Livingston Texas. My brother was born in Clarksdale Mississippi when I was 22 months old. Again, dad was unemployed...the pipeline crew had moved on, but mom was too close to domino-ing. After my brother was born, we moved back to Livingston, and then dad was called back to Dow. We lived in 3 houses in Lake Jackson. The one I consider my childhood home was on Cherry Street. We moved there when I was in first grade. As part of this month's listing project, this is how I would...</div><div><br></div><div>Describe My Chdhood Home:</div><div><br></div><div>1. Big vegetable garden</div><div>8. Treehouse</div><div><br></div><div>Home...in my mind it is still home. I'd like to think I could go back home. Lots of friends have never left, but I've even lived in the cold and snowy Ohio and Michigan. Now I am on the north side of Houston. Maybe one day I will be back home...</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11617375063304147894noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7815565894562631814.post-83092664853193027352014-03-12T21:57:00.001-07:002014-03-12T22:10:28.172-07:0030 Days of Lists, March 12Things I always do for myself<div><br></div><div>1. This was bittersweet, I put this package together as my father in law was in the hospital dying. I had purchased and gathered everything before he went in the hospital. It was wrapped, packaged, decorated and mailed while he was in the hospital. That said, things like that tend to make me forgetful. So, since I did not take good 'before' photos, I am struggling to remember the contents. I do remember I sent a travel size package of Qtips...cause they make excellent impromptu paint brushes! Also a couple of Sharpies ;my favorite markers, especially the brush ones), a roll of washi tape and some postcards (to represent me!). The postcards are vintage reproductions of Houston long ago! Awesome! I enjoy <a href="http://postcrossing.com/">Postcrossing</a> I have a large stash of postcards, and a collection of written and stamped postcards from around the world!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

We went over to the talented Michael Cunningham's dyeing studio and dyed the day away. We did many new to me techniques. I really liked the quick and easy Shibori technique. It may take a week until I see how that one turned out! There was traditional tie dyeing with rubber bands, too. We did some Deconstructed Screen Printing. <div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ7zLKzO_r7LUAhg-bZst3TsjkhthIX8g_VfTr3M0q9QXQ-HrfugDR6KsdsjpFLoD_aynwMQkR-KxyDLQhEDHv_61fE-7pR6h-UiXI9WL95jiMbk-Nj3MqerFMgcaireW0_wsorqYq-8k/s640/blogger-image-1394132750.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQ7zLKzO_r7LUAhg-bZst3TsjkhthIX8g_VfTr3M0q9QXQ-HrfugDR6KsdsjpFLoD_aynwMQkR-KxyDLQhEDHv_61fE-7pR6h-UiXI9WL95jiMbk-Nj3MqerFMgcaireW0_wsorqYq-8k/s640/blogger-image-1394132750.jpg"></a></div>Here's Michael giving us a demo. </div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMu-cdGZdwKBGoTYRS83kYDD79iHNgIAXqyTwW_jGNrLlod_DPvVb5M8OXC5AoE6sWaM3AMQzQ3sNIZKHvQumv8kk6v1hIf9mscuKgSugwFVPAlE2vvaVppQRE-EVPHcUiv0gyxFf7mHE/s640/blogger-image--1082147053.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMu-cdGZdwKBGoTYRS83kYDD79iHNgIAXqyTwW_jGNrLlod_DPvVb5M8OXC5AoE6sWaM3AMQzQ3sNIZKHvQumv8kk6v1hIf9mscuKgSugwFVPAlE2vvaVppQRE-EVPHcUiv0gyxFf7mHE/s640/blogger-image--1082147053.jpg"></a></div>Here is Don after doing his D. The last day. What seemed like a monumental task, has not been quiet so hard as imagined. Janell, Jilla and I were once again joined by my friend Fonda. By noon, she had said yes to a dress. It is made by an Australian designer, and has a Soanish feel to it. Besides being a lace dress, it is nothing like she went into this thinking she would get. <div><br></div><div>By 1pm we were at Tanner's soccer game. Normal, crazy Saturday. Oh, I know...I went on a quilt retreat last weekend, stayed up late and got up early those days, Monday, the huz had a colonoscopy, at 6am, more lost sleep! By Wednesday, I was caught up on sleep, but Janell and David arrived about 11pm! Thursday evening was wedding dress shopping, today was just crazy, anyway...I am behind, and it is time to catch up!<br />
<br />

I made it to breakfast in time. I think it was only the second time ever! My secret sister was really good to me. I will have to upload a photo. I mended one if Tanner's shirts, I sewed more scraps together. I made one of the Urban Chicken quilt blocks. Super cute! It is really cute. <div><br></div><div>Today's listing topic is:</div><div><br></div><div><b>My Food Pyramid </b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>I love steak. </div><div>I love potatoes. </div><div>I love bread, especially crunchy crust, seeded, wheat bread. My friend, Lish, picked me and all my stuff up at 930. We met up with Alice, Susie and Charlotte at the Northpark Starbucks for breakfast and then headed up to Conroe for their quilt show. Enjoyed the quilts, saw friends, lunched at Panera Bread and hit the Quilters Quarters quilt shop before heading on to Camp Allen for the Kingwood Area Quilt Guild's annual retreat. It was a rainy, humid, miserable day. Now it's after 3am and I need to do today's list! The topic is:<div><br></div><div><b>Comforting Me this Week</b></div><div><b><br></b></div><div>1. Alway, the huz</div><div>2. Tanner, saying he'd miss me</div><div>3. Tanner calling me tonight</div><div>4. Aunt Mona Rae calling today to make sure I knew about my dad's current worry</div><div>5. The Truth</div><div>2. Respect</div><div>3. Humor</div><div>4. Accepting</div><div>5. Sincere</div><div>6. Tolerant</div><div>7. Hygienic </div><div>8. Loving</div><div><br></div><div>As you can see, I obviously value the truth! Always telling the truth means never having to remember your lies. I can get along with most folks, but it is easier to get along with tolerant, accepting people, more fun to get along with someone with a good sense of humor. Easier to respect someone who shows respect and sincerity and easier on the nose if they are clean smelling!!!! :)</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11617375063304147894noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7815565894562631814.post-58451197604011561222013-09-18T14:47:00.001-07:002013-09-18T14:50:25.859-07:0030 Days of Lists, Day 18Help! This is not a word I use very often. I can do it, usually. <div><br></div><div>Today the listing topic is I Ask for Help When</div><div><br></div><div>1. I can't reach something</div><div>2. My computer gets funky</div><div>3. Things need to come inside from in my car</div><div><br></div><div>I am vertically challenged. I am 5 foot 1/2 tall. Though I have a computer technology degree, it is from the ice ages! (1981, 1982? Why can't I remember that?) one good thing about having the kids still at home is using them for slave labor! Bring in the groceries! Bring in my sewing machine! Yada yada yada!</div>Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11617375063304147894noreply@blogger.com0
