Little Baby Hat

I made some little newborn baby hats out of some scraps from making my grandson some boxer briefs from infant sized pants & some undies from onesies.

Here's the leftovers from the bottom of a pair of the infant pants, cut open on one side, and laid down, right sides together!

Look...it's already has a hem!  Great!  Now, let's put the template on it!

Trace around the curve!  Then sew on the drawn line.  Cut out, leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.

Oh, boy, Sponge Bob Square pants legs, too!  :)

Then, there were the onesies!  I had cut the bottoms off of them to make some undies for Tanner!  So, I had the tops of the onesies left, and most of them were so masculine, they really didn't lend themselves to be little girl tshirt dresses!...so...

Now, turn it inside out!

Place the template on it...this does NOT have an already made hem...so, we're gonna have to add an inch or so, so that we can turn that inch under for a hem!

,
Trace around, cut along the bottom edge, sew on the line around the crown, cut out leaving a 1/4 inch seam allowance and hem.  You really do not need to finish the bottom edge of the hat before hemming, because knits don't ravel!  Upcycling clothing this way into new clothing...the stretch is always going the right way!  If you make these out of yardage (or scraps from your knit fabric stash), make sure the stretch is going horizontal, around the head!

Here's what I was able to get done!

Here's what the boxer briefs looked like.

 Enjoy,

Janetta, living life...usually crazy!

A New Chapter

So, Today, I start my blog.  I don't know why I've been itching to do one, but I have.

I write, like I talk...so, if it bothers you...hey, that's just me!  I am me, take me, or leave me.  I am now truly old enough to say that...and get away with it!  :)

Hope for a more exciting post tomorrow!
